Biodegradable everything

It's not just Google cafés; bubble tea shops in the suburbs like Java N Juice (http://www.yelp.com/biz/java-n-juice-san-jose) use biodegradable cups, dishes and utensils that seem like plastic but are really made of corn or potatoes.

In case you're wondering, that's a Google bike in the corner.

Anime fanatics

Saw this in the "Expectant Mother" spot at a Valley software company.  (That's next to the "Carpool until 11am" spot.)

Maybe the fans were on their way to the Fanime Anime convention at the San José Convention Center.

Waiting for the light rail after midnight is not bad when the Fanime Anime convention is on

Critical masses of fixies

At least once a week San José Fixed Gear (http://sjfixed.org/) comes through the neighborhoods of South San José with about 50 riders on fixed-gear bicycles.

The real Silicon Valley moment is when a rider looks at the camera and asks "You gonna put that on YouTube?"  And all the giant shiny pickup trucks make sure its not misidentified as San Francisco.
